January – February: the "quiet" months that are not

Up north, winter ends pest season. In Jacksonville, it just changes the cast. Ants stay active indoors, foraging in kitchens through the cooler weeks. Rodents look for warmth and push into attics during cold snaps. Drywood termites swarm on warm winter days. This is the best time for exclusion work and attic inspections — the pressure is lower, so sealing now pays off all year.

March – April: spring awakening

Subterranean termite swarmers take flight — usually after warm rains — and piles of discarded wings on windowsills are the classic discovery moment. Ant colonies expand aggressively. Wasps start building nests under eaves. Mosquitoes ramp up as temperatures climb. Spring is when quarterly plans earn their keep: the barrier goes up ahead of peak season.

May – June: the surge begins

Palmetto bugs, mosquitoes, and flies hit full stride. Formosan termite swarmers fly on warm, humid nights — winged termites around porch lights after dark are likely them. Afternoon storms start flooding burrows and mulch beds, pushing roaches indoors. Fire ant mounds explode in irrigated lawns. Spider webs collect across every eave in the neighborhood. If your barrier is not maintained, this is when you notice.

July – September: storm season

The heaviest pressure of the year — and hurricane season. Every major downpour displaces pests — roaches, ants, and rodents move toward dry structures in waves. Mosquitoes breed in every new puddle. This is peak season for emergency calls, and the reason summer barrier refreshes matter more than any other visit.

October – December: the shift

Rodents start seeking winter shelter — fall is exclusion season. Spiders are at their most visible. Ant activity moves indoors as nights cool. And drywood termites can swarm on any warm day. The fall visit sets up the whole next year.

The takeaway

Something is always active. That is the entire argument for year-round service in one paragraph. See how quarterly plans match this calendar, or send the form below for a free inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any month with no pests in Jacksonville?

No. The cast changes — rodents and indoor ants in winter, termites and mosquitoes in spring and summer — but something is always active. That is why Northeast Florida needs year-round thinking.

When is termite swarm season?

Subterranean termites typically swarm in spring after warm rains; drywood termites can swarm on warm days nearly year-round. Wing piles on windowsills are the telltale sign.

When should I schedule exclusion work?

Late winter and fall are ideal — lower pest pressure means sealing work has maximum impact before the spring surge and the fall rodent push.

Are mosquitoes really a March-to-November problem?

At minimum. In warm years they barely pause in winter. Breeding-site management matters most from spring through fall.
